Barak Tal has extensive experience in virtually the full range of civil & commercial litigation, including contract law, corporate law, insurance law, communications law, banking law, securities law, consumer law, antitrust law and more. Barak's unique area of expertise - as part of civil litigation - is class actions and derivative claims. Barak focuses on representing defendants in these claims, and handled hundreds of cases, including some of the largest class actions filed in Israeli courts. Additionally Barak is experienced in Criminal law ('White Collar" offenses) and has defended clients in some of Israel's highest profile trials. In addition, Barak also engages in administrative and constitutional litigation (including petitions to the Supreme Court), as well as representation of large commercial corporations in regulation procedures vis-à-vis the state authorities. Amongst Barak's clients are many of the largest companies in Israel and abroad including banks, insurance companies, communications companies, airlines and more.
At the beginning of his legal career, Barak served for several years as a teaching assistant in the field of criminal law at the Tel Aviv University Law Faculty. In recent years, Barak lectured at the LLM program of the Tel Aviv University Law School. Barak Tal is also active as a lecturer in various training courses for lawyers.
Between 2002-2008, Barak served as a Member and President of the Disciplinary Court of the Israel Bar Association. Barak currently serves as a Member and President of the National Disciplinary Court (Appeals) of the Israel Bar Association. Barak is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Faculty of Law at Tel Aviv University. In addition, Barak is a member of the board of the Israeli Chamber of Commerce (ICC). In 2017, Barak was honored to be a Supreme Court candidate.
Barak joined the firm in 1991 and became a partner in 1995.
